  I think the notion of the event horizon of the coming AI singularity is even more apt than people imagine, in the sense, people at a real event horizon hardly notice anything happening because of the equivalence principle, and similarly, when the AI singularity arrives, people will be similarly remiss of the fact that they are passing through the event horizon. Eventually, of course, the tidal forces would modify them in unimaginable ways, which is when they will have a true reckoning.
