  The year is 2053 - Tom Kenny is long-retired, entering his twilight years and seldom ever makes public appearances. But he makes an exception for SpongeCon 2053, the biggest SpongeBob fan convention still operating. Fans of all ages are overjoyed to see him in person for what may very well be the final time, and a crowd of near-thousands cheer wildly for the actor who brought the iconic sponge to life half a century ago.<br><br>The cheering continues relentlessly as Tom&apos;s agent leans over and says on-mic &quot;I think they want you to say the line, Tom.&quot; and without skipping a beat, Tom holds his mic, tilts his head back with his eyes closed and his lips in an unstoppable grin, and proclaims a passionate hearty &quot;I&apos;m ready!&quot;<br><br>The cheering immediately stops. A couple of fans give a pity clap but the auditorium is otherwise silent, filled with the confused and slightly disappointed faces of the con-goers.<br><br>The panel continues to its scheduled end unremarkably, the crowd disperses to the other panels and vendor halls. Afterward Tom&apos;s agent takes him aside and tells him with every bit of tact and empathy he can, &quot;Tom - I think they wanted you to say &apos;a little dab&apos;ll do ya&apos;.&quot;

  Idk why, but Tom Kenny sounds real different in this game. I can only assume it’s because his clashes with Penny and Scout left him weakened and diminished.

  I actually don&apos;t mind the more &quot;mellow&quot; take on Spongebob&apos;s voice Tom Kenny has been doing, but I won&apos;t deny that he sounds different, especially after doing the voice for like 20+ years.

  I had a wildly different experience with the &quot;a little dab&apos;ll do ya&quot; line because my high school health teacher would say that all the time about jizz and I just can&apos;t break that association.

  Istg, SOMEONE needs to hire Penny to write the dialogue for shows. Even when improving on the spot, she manages to create more realistic conversations between two characters than most major franchises.

  When Penny was like &quot;who the heck is Spot?&quot; and I was like &quot;who the heck IS Spot?&quot; and then chat was like &quot;you haven&apos;t watched the newer episodes?&quot; That blew my mind. All my life I had never stopped to consider that SpongeBob may have added a supporting character to the cast during all its seasons. Like FoP infamously shook up the stat quo repeatedly, but as far as I knew, SBSP has only evolved in its presentation and writing.
