“Azrael’s a jerk.” This book is a nutshell

This saga has its faults and a lot of goofy shit in it, but unironically, the sequence where Azreal strips off every piece of his armor while he climbs out of the cave system only to be blinded by his own visor as he emerges at the feet of Batman is one of my favorite moments in comics.

So. Awesome.

All the goofy stuff aside, that climactic sequence with Batman and Jean Paul emerging from the ground was actually a really beautiful sequence.

Aw man! Y'all didn't discuss the best part:
Bruce Wayne, wearing the Tengu mask, is being chased by a bunch of ninja and can tell they're holding back and trying to steer him into some kind of trap, but chooses to let them chase him so that he can see where they want him to go. They corner him on the edge of a bridge and he jumps off, landing between lanes on a busy freeway. He looks up and realizes he's standing at the feet of one of the seven Masters and has to duel him in hand to hand combat between lanes on the freeway while cars zoom by at 60mph.

Sal, thank you for this series of episodes on back issues. You and the gang have done such an incredible job at making me laugh and I appreciate all the insight on the comic industry in the 90’s.
