Sitting, as I do, on the literal opposite side of the planet in Sweden, I didn't know of Mr. White before. However I have found these 4 hours of conversation highly rewarding. You have both been charming, and generous in sharing your perspectives and insights, thank you very much.

Brilliant - glad Joseph Walker recorded this. Long after Prof White is gone (and may he live a long life but then all flesh is grass) - his thought process has been digitally recorded. More power to you - subscribed.

I'm up for 4 1/2 hours of this even if I watch in instalments. Hugh White is such a clear communicator. And I trust he's sincerely explicating ideas not just pushing a line.

I didn't regret a single second. You both did a fantastic job. My lessons were:

1. Beware the utopianism of men who can get on their ships and just sail away😅

2. Jingoism should not be embraced lightly.

3. Belligerency robs you of the ability to effect peaceful outcomes even within a rival polity.

4. A pacific outlook should not be synonymous with cowardice. Draw a line you can maintain and be ready for a handshake across it.

Consider myself a bit of a political junkie but hadn't heard of either of these people a week ago.

What a great conversation. Well done.

The fact that war is something that can often be avoided, but shouldn't always be avoided, is under-recognised and often misrepresented nowadays.
