  She’s from Canada. The yodeling - she won a yodeling contest when she was a kid. You cannot go wrong with any of her music. And she still sounds great today.

  Alanis was the Queen of the 90s. Jagged Little Pill came out in 95 I think and just blew everyone away. Its one of those very rare albums where every song is a banger, like Rumors or the Stranger. She basically invented her own genre, a synthesis of grunge and alt-rock/pop. She had a very subtle but profound effect on music going forward, as her writing was far more confessional than narrative when narrative was very much the dominant form of the day, and you can see that shift in lyrics from artists that came after her as the emotional confessional writing become far more common thanks to her.<br><br>Very much enjoy your engineering insights into the productions!

  I&apos;m shocked You Oughta Know wasn&apos;t your first reaction for Alanis. That was the first single off her album Jagged Little Pill and introduced her to American audiences. She&apos;s a super talented songwriter and was the voice of young women from the 90s.
