Archer & Armstrong was my favourite Valiant title, and I collected all the BWS issues. When the title was taken over by Mike Vosburg, it wasn't the same and I dropped it.

BWS did all the covers for the Wildstorm Rising storyline. Grifter is one of the best ones.

Have you seen/read BWS's monsters? I checked out the larger size edition from my library when it was originally released. I highly recommend it, but I'll be honest and say that it has some similarities to the weapon X saga. I understand your take on weapon X I agree with you on the covers, but I'm one that loves the ambiguity of the Wolverine and it paid homage to that. To me there is no James Howlett only the mystery of the best there is at what he does.
I really appreciate your critique on his art and even though I consider Smith one of my favorites you pointed out things I didn't see. Now I do thanks!

I happen to like both Lifedeath covers in Uncanny X men. Always a fan of those early Conans though.

BWS Weapon X is obviously the Wolvie bible but i luved all his works since those released on the racks. been an inspiration and Legend my whole life. also used to draw those solar man covers all the time as a wee little shit ass : D

ok first of all... i was almost offended about your criticism for Weapon X, but yeah i get it.... for an origin story, it's a little cliche and confusing. however, i loved the art. BWS really captured the beast and the nightmarish carnage. There's weight and fluid to it that I, as an artist, really admire and strive to achieve. i really just love the way he draws male anatomy in general, especially during this era. his earlier stuff... not so much.

my only gripe about his style is that all the women have the same face. and it's THE SAME FACE as some of the men. it's very distinctly BWS....the eyes are very dead and emotionless and really unnerving. but that's also why it worked so well in Weapon X.... Logan was either stoned or drugged out of his mind so it worked. the attention to detail was still good. and that cover you held up is always going to make me laugh, because in my mind, it reminds me of the scenes Watterson paints for Calvin and Hobbes snowy adventures. i can almost imagine those two cowering behind a tree as Weapon X stalks past.
