There was a poster in a classroom I was in many years ago (I was in single digits) that I still remember to this day, and I think it sums up everyone's self-hate pretty simply: it simply read, "When I am good, no one remembers; when I am bad, no one forgets."

"I was quiet. Never got in trouble. Compassionate and funny. Yet the troublemakers and problem children got all the love and support while I was left alone. If THEY are worthy of it, how bad am I to not be?"

Even though I know it's irrational, a part of me hopes that one day I can give enough love to the world to make up for the hate I have given myself

I despise my own happiness and joy and hate spending time just on things that solely focus on me being happy; but im more than happy to sink time and enegy and happiness into the people i care about because i know that constantly being stuck in your own head and hating everything you do is the most suffocating thing in the world, and if im able to help one person i know feel happier about the world we live in then thats all i need

Nobody judges you as harshly as you judge yourself. It is okay to be kind to yourself.

Me when someone else fucks up: "It's alright. You'll get it."

Me when I fuck up: (stands in front of mirror) "YOU SHOULD redacted YOURSELF, *NOW*."

Love how we talk about the brain as this strange thing we can't control, while we are the brain. "Who are you talking to?! You! Me? Me." :D

Yeah, unfortunately, my self hatred is so deep, and core to who I am, that logic doesn't work on it. Being kinder to myself feels like a lie, and is auto-rejected. I literally cannot do it (or, at least, if I can, I haven't figured out how).
I cannot logic myself out of a feeling, at most using logic and reason and positive self-talk provides a counterargument ...that the feeling then ignores.
Since it's something I'm actively doing instead of something that comes naturally, I know I don't actually believe it.
It's kind of like how the old trick of setting your clocks 10min ahead to help with chronic lateness doesn't work for me, because *I'm the one who did it*. My brain just goes "oh that clock's wrong, remember? We have 10 more min."
"Being kind to myself" feels the same. My brain just says, "yeah, nice try, but you're actually a worthless piece of shit, remember?"

I know I am intelligent, I know I am attractive, but then I punish myself for being overconfident and cocky

I’ve lived with self-hate for so long that it feels like home, even if it hurts. The idea of living differently feels distant like trying to imagine a life that doesn’t belong to me.

"I feel like the worst person in the world. Everything I do is wrong. There are infinite possibilities, yet I make mistakes like a fool, like an immature person who doesn't even know how to make decisions."
That how i think it
