Silver always seems to be the one colour that highlights any issues.

So basically drop coats are slowed down and gun held back more to make the metallics spread out more evenly?

I love water for color matching reasons but dam it’s so sensitive to the elements.

I always start my gun off of the part that I'm I'm spraying I press it a little bit to get the are going and then I press it all the way to get the paint and start moving and on the last coat of metallic I crank that air up and throw that glitter

I'm no professional spray painter but I've found I get the best results laying down an initial mist coat or two of lacquer before laying down the proper heavy coats. What I found was going straight into the full coat sometimes the metallic paint underneath was unsettling underneath the laquer giving a blooming and mottled effect even with the recommended flashing and drying time.

I too had the issues with the DV1-C and High Solids Clear. That gun just didnt want to break it up. Like it doesn't have enough ass and is so slow. ANI 200 Black Skull i like so much better for even the WB cap for base over the DV1-B. Clear cap for clear, and I use the HVLP cap for metallics.

I see so many tight metallic blends that do not turn out well. Metallic stacks up with solvent and you get a rough grainy appearance., with solvent..

The trick to metallics is all in the drop coats. Sometimes the overlap. An cause the metallic to sink. And each direction change when spraying will change the color slightly. Get ur cover coats done. Then i like to wait 20min and do my drop coats, 20-25psi fan wide open and from a distance. Dont go to heavy. Ull see everything even out.
