Wonderful quote and love to hear that is spoken daily. That gave me goosebumps Mr. Rowe! I have no connection with his charter schools, but greatly appreciate knowing they are educating the next generation of kids (even if it is a small number).

Something that rarely gets talked about: low-income white kids were used in Connecticut’s desegregation strategy too. We were somehow both the problem and the solution.<br><br>I went through an audition, so I thought I was there because I had earned it. Years later, I found out the system wasn’t as merit-based as I believed.<br><br>You can’t tell kids the game is based on merit and then quietly change the rules depending on who they are. I was a talented, working-class kid, but my opportunities were throttled by a system I was too young to understand.<br><br>And I was literally made to clean the school with no PPE—in an old funeral home.<br><br>That was done in the name of social justice.<br><br>We need to be honest about what happens when children are used to fix a problem they didn’t create.
