Anyone who uses the term "hunky dory" is alright in my book. Thanks for rescuing these wonderful pieces.

They were a great system with a reverberation unit. The sound is
phenomenal.

    Love these record players

Always liked the build quality of Motorola products. The TV's were the best along with the Zenith sets of that era. No printed circuit boards for the tubes to heat up and crack the solder connections or discolor the board.

Nice to see the man behind the repairs..😁 Really nice player..! Robust as you've indicated, and great to see very little parts needed replacing after all that time..Top work..Ed..UK..😀

I really admire your methodical, low-key approach to vintage repair & restoration.

Hey my era of collection corresponds roughly to when I went to high school - mid-1980s.

If you ever come across any 'boomboxes' from about 1979-85, let's talk. Those for me are my 'cathedral' radios, yet are fully capable of driving the sound from a smartphone. Take care!

    BEAUTIFUL 😍 TOO !!!!

Looks nicely built. Motorola did make some high quality units, though like Crosley and Philco, insisted on using those annoying loctal tubes for a few years in the late 40's. Only thing I would've done additionally was add a fuse if there wasn't one already. Kind of curious how the vibrasonic sounds, bet it could be kind of interesting!

The Motorola electronics back then are so clean and simple. High quality work.

I agree my friend has one similar and I love it too! It has to be the best sounding tube radio I've heard so far. It's an SK55W which uses 6MB8s for L and R plus two el84 for the 15" woofer with the same 51W output. By 1960 Motorola had switched to mylars film caps that stay in tolerance after 60 years! I tested ones in my Motorola am fm table radio from 1962 and these were even flooded but they were either spot on or within .1. Talk about extremely stable caps.

It's a pleasure to see the quality that went into Motorola gear, all modularised and nicely set out. And as you say, Seth, put reliable parts into a product and it won't need servicing and expensive repairs. That can only add to your company's reputation. Quite simple really. Ceramic capacitors have probably been one of the cheapest electronic components in any radio or TV set.
