I don’t really have a specific trope that I hate, it just really depends on how it’s handled.

Undyne is how to do a strong female character right. She is strong but has genuine flaws.

Another example of a girl who is tomboyish but still has feminine traits is Applejack and Rainbow Dash.Esmeralda.lady oscar

Over 90% of the problems with these tropes can be solved with good/great story writing.

Loved the video! i'd like to add on the "not like other girls" topic. <br><br>The "not like other girls/pick me" trope it's women who rejects femininity because she got internalized misogyny and associates it with women and being inferior, like "ew feminine girly things, i like masculine things/i'm one of the boys and it's so much better" that's being a pick me. But a character who is simply "i prefer masculine things, but respect those who likes feminine things" it's not a problem at all. There is another trope that is related to tomboys being feminized when they're clearly uncomfortable with it, and it's something i hate. Not every woman is feminine, so she doesn't need to "embrace her femininity" <br><br>By the end of the day, we need variety. Not every woman got the same interests, not all got the same goal. The variety in male characters, appearence and personality wise, female characters deserve the same. Women are half of the population, but just in recent years we started receiving more representation. We got a way to go.

I do understand what you're saying.I feel like I oftentimes.Male writers are kinda too scared to give female characters.Flaws, cuz, it would seem like that. They're too weak. To do anything with de guys. Thankfully, I learned that you can have your cake and eat it too.

Stereotypes are a starting point, not a full character. The stereotype MUST be subverted as the story goes on (example: Girl Boss character makes a plan, not listening to others who tell her it isn't going to work. The plan goes horribly wrong, filling her with guilt for the tragedy she was so sure wouldn't occur. She then learns to move past her mistakes and ego, while learning to listen to the concerns of others, thereby growing as a person. She's still a bad ass, just with more forethought and better made plans."

As Nobara from Jujutsu Kaisen says, "I love myself when I'm pretty and all dressed up. And I love myself when I'm kicking ass!"

About the "I'm not like other girls" trope, it was a popular trend way back in the 2010s where Tumblr, Pinterest, Instagram and Wattpad are at its peak. Especially the fashion aesthetic you've seen everywhere on their profile pictures. I mean, there are many of them. Hipsters, swag teens, soft kawaii/decora girls, nerds with glasses, indie sleaze rave/DJ party freaks, bohemian hippie, galaxy print themed, scene queens, pastel goth, emo grunge, coquette, dark academia... The list goes on. Lots and lots of aesthetic.<br><br>Every angsty Tumblr girl says this catchphrase:<br>- "I'm not like other girls, I read books"<br><br><br>So that means... They like to read:<br>- Fifty Shades Of Gray<br>- The Hunger Games/Divergent<br>- Percy Jackson And The Olympians<br>- The Fault In Our Stars<br>- Chronicles of Narnia<br>- Twilight Saga (ugh... Bella Swan)<br>- Harry Potter/Fantastic Beasts<br>- Diary Of A Wimpy Kid<br>- Dork Diaries (books for teens)<br>- The Maze Runner<br>- Vampire Academy
