  My Toshiba sd-1800 is excellent as a transport. CD text as well, not bad for a 2002 unit. The tray mechanism is a good KSS which is quick and very sturdy and Q-sound as well. Do it all remote, A big and useful front screen with dimming feature and time/track info etc... If you want to use the Dac, it's a respectable 192/24 Burr Brown. I bought it second hand in 2012 for $50 and since then I brought in one year ago for a cleaning, new rubber bands, lube and that's it. There are many of these Toshiba SD series from early 2K and I really recommend them very much! They are a little shorter than the usual, looking great. Peace.

  I'm sorry but £1200 for a CD player it needs to be absolutely stellar at that price. Ridiculous price for plays 'pretty well' to quote you.

  If you're new to CDs and CD players, look elsewhere, get yourself either a 2nd hand from before the early 2000's (yes, they will most likely still play and sound excellent) or get something like the Tascam CD-200.  It will also give you CD text, and as a bonus gives you pitch control.  All that in a sturdy case for $300, from a company that's been around in the professional music world for decades.

  This CD player seems sensible, sensible features, sensible price, winner, winner, chicken dinner..  NAD equipment is usually reliable so longevity and performance should be good and CDs are on a resurgence so all in all should be good! 💿👍😁

  Nice to see just a CD player. Amazing that the manufacturer has to try and compensate for some of the absolute garbage the studios and remastering engineers are turning out now for the loudness wars

  CD Text is pretty much standard now on new CDs and has been for about 12 years or more. I’ve lost count on how many CDs I have with text now. If your collection stopped growing 20 years ago maybe it’s not a useful function, but the display is the main attraction to this player IMO. <br><br>I think it’s over priced and most likely will be outlived by my old Sony CDP-XB930 which is 27 years old and counting. The NAD is just not special enough for £1200 IMO.

  Mine is half the price,with tubes.better &nbsp;looking. I wouldn&apos;t spend more. It&apos;s good enough. Couldn&apos;t justify spending more.<br>Might do things well ,in one ear out the other. £1200 lot of money. <br>Better than smoking!

  I&apos;ve been waiting since 2000 for a CDP that is NOT able to play mp3 crap. &nbsp;Because ever since all companies started making these CDPs that could also play mp3, i had to return each and every one of them, i.e. Denon, Yamaha, NAD, ... &nbsp;I ended up getting a 2nd hand Marantz from the &apos;90s that&apos;s still performing today. &nbsp;And best of all, you put any official CD in it, even if heavily scratched, and it will start playing immediately. &nbsp;I hope, SO hope that one day, if not the case with the N-A-D (not &apos;Nad&apos;) you are presenting, another CDP manufacturer will take the step to just drop that mp3 crap possibility, that makes CDP take an age to read a redbook CD and start playing it. &nbsp;Or starts skipping somewhere half way. &nbsp;Can you confirm that this player does NOT have mp3 capability? &nbsp;Thank you!

  Had this player and it has flaws. Tray is noisy, display is nice if you have cds with info to show. If not it just looks silly with track number all the way to the left and time all the way to the right. And the digital digest jump around when the track time shows. Not premium.
