And do not think you are too old to do it! One of my greatest mentor only started his creative career at 45, and now at 73 is happy, healthy and wealthy!

I’m 34 and just starting. I’ve always wanted to be a musician professionally but I too took the perceived responsible path.
Now I have 5 kids, a corporate job and I keep asking myself “what am I leaving behind for them”. I want them to say “Dad did what he loved”. So now I’m starting to balance the job with the craft, writing my own songs, being a weekend warrior playing gigs and cover shows. 2025 will be the year I write and record my first EP. I’m going all in, because I owe it to the ones I love, and myself.

Don’t waste your time chasing butterflies- focus on building a beautiful garden, and they will come to you. Even if they don’t, you’ll still have a wonderful garden. Every step you take is a piece of the puzzle leading to your success, even if you don’t see it yet, every conversation you make influences you, every hobby, attempt makes you learn more and more. So stop chasing, and start building if you fail, you didn't you just had a setback.

I've wasted about 5 years not sharing my work. Perfectionism is what killed most artists I think. Thanks for great inspiration! I wish everyone watching this video make a step to their dream today!

AFTER DECADES in the music industry, I would add this. 1. ALWAYS be teachable. 2. ALWAYS be humble. I can't even count the number of people (especially young people ages 16-25) who destroyed countless opportunities all because they believed they already knew everything. How many young people I've tried to teach about recording, mixing, audio gear etc. who had an "okay, boomer" attitude. As if I had 0% wisdom to impart after 40+ years as a multi-instrumentalist in numerous genres, engineer/studio owner, etc. How sad.

Or the people with zero self awareness...you know...like the horrible singers you see on talent shows who truly believe they're epic? Terrible drummers who believe they're legendary? And then, there are other people with great gifts who destroy countless opportunities with their obscene levels of arrogance. And while I mostly agree with trusting your gut, if you are one of these aforementioned types of people, your gut doesn't matter. Lastly, I am a HUGE advocate of collaboration. HOWEVER...collaborating with the wrong people will also destroy you. That's another affliction I've watched run countless people off the rails. Study your craft. Be MATURE.

I'm 31 years old and since I was a child, I've dreamed of being a musician. I tried to learn the piano but quickly gave up out of frustration because I was often told I had no talent. Eventually, I started to believe I had no talent myself. So, I reluctantly gave it up. However, this desire never left me. Over and over, I dreamed of a life as a musician.
Now, after many years, I want to make it happen seriously. I've started learning the piano again last month and I'm trying not to fall into those self-doubts again. The thought of failing again and never being able to realize this dream fills me with panic. I want this so much. I keep returning your video to push me and to keep me focused, so there is no chance for self-doubts. Thank you for this video. I hope you guys are with me. At least a little bit.

Currently I'm 21 and a total beginner. I want to become a good musician. I will edit this comment when I would be able to produce good music. All the best myself 🤞
