  The cam sensor works fine when connected to a dedicated power source. The ground looks fine. As crazy it sounds, I would check the bulbs in the front and rear and ensure they're the right specs for that car. People replace the bulbs, want brighter ones, or buy cheap garbage, and it can cause issues.

  This engine was built by Mercury Marine. The one we had in the shop used the Mercury part number 892615. You have to source a new connector and make a short harness but, it is indeed a factory replacement Mercury part. Hope this helps.

  I was a parts guy at a Dodge Dealership from 1971-1975. A customer bought a new 1973 Dart, and a few days later was back at the dealer claiming the car runs terrible, but only at night. This was very early in Mopar's electronic ignition system, so assumed that was the culprit. After replacing EVERYTHING ignition related, twice, and still no love, we called Detroit. They sent some hot shots down, and they couldn't figure it out. After some 3 weeks, Detroit OK'd us to replace all the wire looms....still nothing. As a last resort ,a mechanic suggested replacing all the light bulbs. Well, lo & behold, one of the push-in dash bulbs was emitting some kind of signal that was interfering with the ignition control module. He replaced the bulb, car ran fine, reinstalled the original bulb, car ran lousy.  Damnedest thing we ever saw.....  Looks like you're up a similar tree with this Vette,  Mr. Sherwood. Good luck.

  One of the reasons I enjoy working on cars is the puzzle they sometimes present.  The frustration is real, but when you find the problem it is a huge sense of satisfaction.
