For gritty kids I think a portion is kids being allowed to explore those passions. Being encouraged to learn outside of school, being encouraged to learn for life, etc

“I am glad that I didn’t marry my first boyfriend!”. Great answer to the question about how do you find out what to be gritty about . Explore with purpose.

Grit By Angela Duckworth.

In the book, Anegla believes that success depends more on effort, passion and perseverance than talent, emphasizing on the vitality of effort in achieving once goals.

She defines grit as being passionate (committed to a goal) and have perseverance (ability to adapt to changes. Grit is the main gradient of success than inner talent and intelligence. She also indicates that talent counts once, whereas effort counts twice.

Role of effort formula: Talent x Effort = Skill
Skill x Effort = Achievement

An individual can become best at something when he puts the effort in. Talent is a myth.

Duckworth mentions the four psychological ways that helps become gritty.
#1: Develop a fascination with what you are trying to do.
E.g. Darwin keeps questions in his head and finds out possible answers. Curiosity opens doors of opportunities.

#2: Daily improvement.
One should compare himself to who he was yesterday. And work on skills that need to be improved.

#3: Remind yourself a greater purpose:
Having a high level of purpose directly connects you with grit. Gritty people see their future a deeply connected to the world beyond themselves.

#4: Growth Mindset:
Our long-term success depends on our core belief. People with "cant' mindset are less likely to get a promotion in their career. Brain is like a plastic; it evolves when you make an effort on something to become successful.

Lastly, Duckworth enunciates that 'Grit' involves more on the ability to be passionate and have perseverance rather than talent. She also encourages readers to be Gritty and implement the idea that anything is possible through effort and hard work.
