In a filler episode, after this fight, Gaara looked for a taijutsu expert in their village to teach him because he was impressed at Lee's level of skill

When you realize that Rock Lee was trained by the one person that single handedly bodied Madara.

The fact they had us believe Neji was stronger than Rock Lee during this arc is straight up crazy!

I remember watching this episode as a kid and being absolutely floored. This single fight turned Lee into my favorite character instantly.

The thing I love about Lee during this arc is his cockiness and his skills to back it up. It's like he knew he was miles ahead of everyone in terms of skill

the reason why this particular fight is so freaking good, is because this is when gaara was a murderer, and everyone feared for rock lees safety, because he doesn't know anything but taijutsu. little did any of us know, this man has been training for years with an extra ton (2100 lbs). and I believe he was the first to not only hit gaara, but broke through his seemingly impenetrable defense. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
