  Everything I&apos;m about to say is a compliment to Welcome to Elderfield (and SDV). <br><br>We all know the cozy genre has been overwhelmingly attributed to Stardew Valley. But Concerned Ape never meant it to be a cozy game. He meant it to be a farm sim like Harvest Moon. The stakes aren&apos;t as high as in Welcome to Elderfield, but there are consequences, the possibility to min/max and the enemies in the Skull Cavern can quickly destroy a farmer that is unprepared. What made the game cozy was being able to settle into a routine (at least from my perspective) in a way a lot of games don&apos;t allow for. <br><br>Because of the cozy label being applied to any farming focused game, and many cozy gamer&apos;s understanding of the word to mean low-stakes, there&apos;s been fewer risks in farm sim releases over the years. Probably the only other exception I can think of is Graveyard Keeper, which is extremely grindy (also a positive). <br><br>Welcome to Elderfield isn&apos;t cozy in the way that many people mean it now. But it is a shining example of a creative farming game. And that genre is 100% better for its existence. I&apos;ve played nearly every farm sim that&apos;s released since SDV and this is the first one to really grab my attention in the same way. Perhaps what the cozy genre needed was to be a little less cozy.

  On the topic of saving, I&apos;ve noticed every time you enter a building, the game autosaves. So if you need to stop playing, you can generally enter a nearby building and load the auto-save instead of your main file. Relatively quickly in the game you also get a warp spell that is free to use, so you can get back home easily and save. I want to say I also saw potions that allow you to return to where you were when you used warp, so those would also make it a little easier.

  I really appreciate that you had a section about respecting the players&apos; time. I can&apos;t tell you how many games I&apos;ve played some of, begrudgingly finished, or gave up on because they didn&apos;t respect my time. Thanks

  Thank you for the review on this one. &nbsp;I have been wondering about it, and your review clarified so many of my questions. &nbsp;I am still on the fence a bit because I do enjoy a bit of combat, I love a great story, but I am not a huge fan of horror. I love suspense and mystery, but aggressive horror like The Exorcist are definitely not my thing. &nbsp;I plan to watch some let&apos;s play videos before I decide. &nbsp;LOL. &nbsp;As always, your video reviews are excellent! &nbsp;Thanks, again.

  To me it seems completely natural to find combat in a spooky hole in the ground, but then I came to &quot;cozy&quot; gaming through regular CRPG gaming. There&apos;s combat in most of the farming games I played. Maybe it being a turn-based system would make it takes a bit more time, but I have to say I actually prefer it to real-time combat that tests your twitch reflexes, of which I have none :D

  The game does have an autosave feature - it saves when when you enter new areas or finish combat. The sleeping mechanics are also quite interesting: you can skip sleep for several days, but this will lead to some debuffs. When you eventually decide to sleep, you might experience various outcomes, with the results being determined by RNG. It&apos;s worth mentioning that the game, along with its art and music, was developed by a solo dev using RPG Maker. As a result, Steam Deck users should consider trying the demo first to check out the performance since RPG Maker and Steam Deck are known to not play well with each other.

  dude you forgot to mention the warp ritual exists a guy in the mall teaches it to you for free &nbsp;so once you have it no problem if you need to stop &nbsp;soon
