  I was there cheering for Eastsaint I like the documentary its good know what the oppisite team is thinking. Like coach said stay together! I heard both team's coches dont kno sh...while watching the game😂😂😂

  East St Louis Plays The National Ranks High School Teams In The Country. Mt Carmel Needs to Play Against IMG and The Other Nationally Rank High School Teams. Playing Against Loyola And Brother Rice is Not Going To Cut it Sorry.

  I don't care. Get mad if you want to. I went to Mt. Carmel for 2 years in 1971-72. Mt. Carmel did not have a quarter of what you see on the South side. I am 70 now. I am a grandfather. And I know some of the wythe people that were there when I was there are grandfathers as well. I have seen the evolution of the school. I lived on the South side in the Woodlawn area for many years. However, when I was there. Not only were the students racist. The priest, the faculty and the parents were as well. I could not play football at Mt. Carmel when I was there. And they were not good at all. And a few of my friends could not as well. Because of the racism. We were told it would not benefit us to tryout. Now. I will quote an infamous saying they hold to coach Bear Bryant at Alabama when they played USC and got demolished. That was I believe in the 70's. He said we must get some of those on our team. Meaning Blacks. So, when I see the progression of Mt. Carmel and the facilities they have. They followed suit of Alabama. I see a school that has sucked the life out off the Black community in Woodlawn. I have see the likes of Simeon Rice, Doovan McNabb, Steve Edwards, Chris Calloway, Frank Cornish, Darnell Hill etc. All went on to play in the NFL. I went to the school on an academic scholarship. But when I spoke out against the racism by the students and the school at that time it was my fault. Then I was told I was not welcome back for my junior year. I was not angry. Just relieved. Mt. Carmel is a commuter school. The majority of the students do not reside in the community. So, you know how much they put back into the community. Absolutely nothing. maybe, a scholarship or two. I have watched Mt.Carmel since the days I was there and them building their Convocation center and their field. And before that how they got preferential treatment to use Jackson Park for practices and games whereas the people of the community could not use the park at those specific times. I saw young people who lived in the community who wanted to play baseball or football run off the park because of the preferential treatment they got. And now that we are in the Trump era. I see those same people that I was going to school with, their grandchildren are there now. Why? Because Mt. Carmel is a legacy school. The grandfather, the father and the son all went there. When I was there i saw them get off the train all the way from Indiana to come to the school. So, when I see all the Blacks that are playing for Carmel and hear of their success. I look at it as hollow. This is what the powers that be do. Here is a food for thought. How many Black football coaches has Mt. Carmel had. NADA. And I don't want that excuse that Frank Lentl was there for 34 years.
