Speaking from Texas in the humid SE we had a lot of them here, trick was just cracking the windows- compressive cooling and they ran all day so you didn't have the big differential and condesation, in west Texas we had swamp fans were great using evaporative cooling. No neither one matches AC down here but they worked pretty well for what they were 🤠

I have had these in two of my homes and LOVE them! Get a good one that is quiet cause they can be noisy and the Louvers can clack a lot but they are GREAT MONEY SAVERS! You can keep at least one month in each fall and spring that you don’t have to run the AC . It can pay for itself in the first year. It draws air in through your screened windows and blows it up into the attic so it cools the attic too. Get one that is at least 2x3’. Not a small one like was pictured on the advertise picture/click bait shot! It can feel just like an AC is running ! YOU WILL LOVE IT!

Ten years ago I put in the box fan version in our Tucson home. It blows up through the ceiling of what used to be our gas furnace closet, until we replaced it with a rooftop heat pump. The box fan has helped us achieve 95% reliance on our rooftop solar to power the house and all regional vehicle transportation. No more burning. Bye fossil fuels!

Comfort and convenience has a cost. The process of turning the fan on and opening the lower sash on the windows require an effort.<br> "Automatic " became the new big thing and that is a cost$.

But all day long U sweltered. I remember lyiing in the only window in our bedroom ($ of us) and <br>I was closest to the window, It was still 100F at Midnight.<br>Nothing colled off at 100F and 90% Humidit. You just swetted all night, this was in the early 50's
