Bro seeing your husband kiss a child and then getting mad because he’s cheating with her rather than being outraged that he’s a predator is CRAZY.

I’m a teacher in America. She is largely mistaken. Teachers can, often do, and definitely should face serious criminal charges for this kind of thing regardless of the age of consent.

Oops, forgot the crucial detail that as a mandated reporter of child abuse, her failure to report her husband is also a crime. She would likely face jail time for not reporting this immediately.

In response to the plagiarism allegations, whether or not it's proven that she copied those stories, I think it highlights how derivative a lot of these extremely popular books are. A lot of these novels are copies of copies, poorly written and sloppily edited - if they're edited at all - to be pushed out as quickly as possible. The way books like this are produced turns an art form into content and we as readers are left worse off.

Even if we ignore the age, the ending twist is so stupid. You mean to tell me that Hudson was called to help bury his girlfriend and later the same night was called to pick her up from her grave and had just... no comments on this situation?

Making Nathaniel the villain for his abuse of kids while not calling out Eve for hers perpetuates the idea that women can't groom boys. And that plays a role in female teachers engaging in inappropriate behavior with students not getting called out the same way it is for male teachers. It gets downplayed and played off in such a way that those who call it out for being weird get talked down/ignored (i say this as someone who went to a high school where a female teacher got away with it for way too long because she was a women and people dismissed her behavior in a way they wouldn't have a male teacher).
Edited to add: and had the book also called out Eve for being a villain, it could have shown how victims of abuse can become abusers without support, etc, especially without anyone to tell them that behavior is wrong.

Genuinely the main reason why I love my library is I can read books and if I don’t like it I don’t feel like I haven’t wasted my money.

I know someone who was roomed at 17, but he waited until 18 to do anything physical. It took her about six years to realize what happened.

"It's a lesson she'll never forget" is such a strange tagline considering the content of this book imo

like it just paints the VICTIM of GROOMING in such a strange way? maybe it's just me Idk
