چگونه انگلیس بزرگترین امپراتوری تاریخ را ساخت؟

In 1492, an Italian sailor named Christopher Columbus set out on a great voyage. He hoped to find a new route to the land of spices, India, but instead of India, he ended up in the Bahamas in America. This mistaken voyage was the beginning of several great empires on the European continent. But none of these European powers had anything to say against the British Empire of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. An empire that became the largest empire in history, covering a quarter of the earth's landmass. This video is the story of the British Empire ـ Spain and Portugal made a treaty called Tordesillas. And so it happened that they divided all of Latin America between themselves. They no longer had to fight each other. Now they could get great treasures of gold without war. When these conquerors sent huge treasures of gold to their country, the news of these treasures spread throughout Europe. This news reached the ears of Henry VII, King of England. He also wanted a share of this unknown wealth. Henry VII gave a lot of money to an Italian sailor named John Cabot to go and discover new lands. Cabot set off from the port of Bristol in May 1497 on a very important journey. He knew that South America was under the control of Spain and Portugal. So he headed north and went to North America. Where it is now called "Newfoundland" and is located in Canada. No European had visited North America since the time of the Vikings in the 10th century. For this reason, this land remains untouched and untouched. Unlike Spain and Portugal, English merchants and explorers were not at all interested in heading to North America. But the question is: if they were not interested, then why did they spend so much money and cause so much trouble there? What attracted the English to America was not gold and treasure, but religious motives. England had been able to annex Wales, but Scotland and Ireland were still governed independently. England was desperately seeking influence in Ireland. This happened to them too. This time using religion. The English were able to penetrate the island of Ireland using the Protestant religion. On the other hand, England's main competitors, Spain and Portugal, were on the rise. By that time, Spain and Portugal had conquered the entire South American continent, and now it was time for Asia and Africa. They built many cities in the Americas and took many African people to America as slaves. Gradually, the Americas found a new player, and that was the French. The French, who had a lot of influence in Africa, thought about invading America. They went to North America and built a city there called New France. England was thinking about how European countries were traveling everywhere and taking over almost all of America, but it seemed that there was no news about England. They wanted to be like the French. That is, they went to America and built a few cities and islands and invading there. Ironically, they did all of these things, but none of them were successful. It was during this time that they also established several trading companies, one of which was the East India Company. This company later played an important role in the formation of the British Empire. In 1603, James I became King of England. He was both King of England and King of Scotland at the same time. But at that time, the two kingdoms of England and Scotland were governed separately. This person created the initial nuclei of the British Empire. He first sent Protestants to Northern Ireland. It was during the reign of James I that the English finally established a permanent city in America in 1607. Jamestown, Virginia, was the first permanent city that England established in the Americas. Many English Catholics were looking for a place where they could freely practice their religion. When they heard of the new cities in America, many English Catholics went to America. In 1634, English Catholics founded a city called Maryland. Two years later, they founded another city called Rhode Island, where anyone could freely worship any religion. An idea that was very new to Europeans at the time. England's power in the Americas was becoming more and more evident. They were achieving their long-held dream of gaining influence in America. Their most important advance came in 1664, when the English attacked Dutch cities in America. New Amsterdam, the largest Dutch city in America, fell to the English. The English changed the name of the city to New York. In the 16th and 17th centuries, England's power in North America was growing every day. Although, unlike South America, there was no news of gold, silver, or such treasures, they had good agricultural lands and trade with the Native Americans caused England to grow economically. England's influence in America brought the first empire to the kings of England. By the end of the 19th century, the American economy was equal to Britain's, and from then on, in a strange way, it began to surpass...
