  Don’t throw out a pen without salvaging the nib unit and cartridge converter. You might need it in the future.

  I have a trick to using pens that don’t get used. I pick a wild color ink. It doesn’t have to match the pen, just a crazy color like yellow, hot pink or lavender, and ink them up. Crazy colors give the pen a personality as being “fun”. This doesn’t work for pens with funky nibs though. Those need a nib swap to get used.

  1st time seeing you in my feed. &nbsp;I co-sign the disappointment when a much-desired (&amp; probably expensive) pen &nbsp;doesn&apos;t perform as it should.<br>The main manufacturers in my pretty extensive 🖊 collection: &nbsp;Monteverde, Conklin, Visconti and Lamy. &nbsp;I have fountain, rollerball and ballpoint in all brands. &nbsp;I too have made the commitment to purge my collection, with plans to sell some of the more expensive ones &amp; gift others in order to penable folks.

  I&apos;m so glad the algo showed me this today. I too am a pens-are-for-writing person. I have a larger collection now than I expected to build, but I don&apos;t want a pen if I can&apos;t use it, whether it&apos;s a simple plastic tube or a specialty urushi something or other. They were made for use; I&apos;m gonna use them. That&apos;s what they&apos;re built for! That&apos;s what they want! &nbsp;😄

  Yes, I have definitely gotten rid of some fountain pens. &nbsp;I had a Noodler’s Ahab Flex Fountain pen that was plastic and I just couldn’t get the hang of the flex nib. &nbsp;I gave it to a friend. &nbsp;I had some other pens that I was just not using that I gave away. &nbsp;I’d rather someone else get use out of them than sit in my drawer and never see the light of day! 😃<br>I do keep some for sentimental reasons because they were gifts from a loved one, even though I don’t write with them.

  I have a Faber Castell Hexo - it gets a ton of use because it’s so wet it can actually do justice to pale, wishy washy inks. If your FC Grip is a medium nib it might also be good for those pale and multi shading inks.

  I too have some I don’t use but for different reasons the pens have become too heavy to hold and write for long periods. Also at 74 years of age arthritis has become a hindrance. The problem is I got several as gifts so I want to gift them to someone who will enjoy them as much as I have😢
