Stop putting those graphics up. They have nothing to do with the topic of the video and are very distracting. One might assume that you want to get your message across and those distracting graphics are interfering with that goal.

I know a man who had a previous DUI and was involved in an accident while completely sober several years later. He demanded that the RCMP give him a breathalyser on scene.

Several years ago I was pulled over at a RIDE stop at about 10pm. To the question about anything to drink that evening I accurately told him I'd had one beer at supper around 6pm, so he asked me to blow into a breathalyzer. The result showed zero alcohol in my system. I asked why he'd asked me to blow; he said because suspected I'd been drinking. I asked what led to that suspicion, he said that I'd admitted to drinking a beer four hours earlier.

"I smell alcohol."

"Interesting. Have you ever been told you may have parosmia? If you have concerns there are olfactory nerve tests that your doctor can carry out in office." Yeah, probably too fussy and irritating.

"Oh yeah? Well I smell bacon." No, don't go there.

"Officer, I am not answering questions and I would like to speak with a lawyer, full stop."

"Officer, I am not going to provide any roadside sobriety exercises." In my case absolutely, because I have a few joint and balance issues.

"Officer, I do not consent to any search of my person or my vehicle," seems wise and reasonable to me.

When confronted with a demand for a breath sample, I'm not sure I agree with "Officer, I want to consult with a lawyer before I comply with any further demands." That sounds like you're refusing the breathalyzer which in Canada is already a Criminal Code offense. I'd never refuse a breathalyzer. Perhaps the script meant something like, "Okay, I'll blow into your approved screening device but I'm not going to comply with any further demands until I consult with a lawyer"?

Your wrap up at the conclusion should have confirmed the refusal to do the hand held roadside breath test. The instrument test back at the station house is clearly stated as compliant but your concluding statement was to comply with the hand held test and is contradictory if I heard correctly. I'll listen again and if I'm wrong, please accept my apology for what was otherwise an excellent presentation.

I had that happened , I said why are you drinking, because I do not consume alcohol, it is simply against my religion to consume alcohol!
