Regarding JAKIM Halal brand/logo.
I know you guys (and Malaysians) might take this for granted but FYI, JAKIM Halal logo is established World Standard.
Other countries all over the world are seeking JAKIM's recognition for their local halal logo so that it is accepted by Malaysia and other countries.
Do check which countries provided the halal logo for the food you buy/pick.

I don't understand why you choose those brands back at home where you're on the other side of the globe. Similarly try to buy canadian products from New Zealand ... Sometimes you can give local brands a chance i.e butter, cereal, detergents, meats
Secondly, you're buying at a premium grocery shop. I.e the Pride chicken Nudgets only cost 16.90 at Giant, Aeon supermarket but it cost over 20.00 there, same thing😅

Do check for BDS list of what to boycott (ie Unil***r, M*gg*, Ne**le, C*lg*te etc) in Malaysia (though imported, it's been in the country for so long that most Malaysians thought it's local).
Now we have local products that is just as good or even better than those in BDS list as options.

My trash bag is only RM2.50 per roll from DIY, it works perfectly and it's 100% recyclable.

UHT milk from Speed Mart 99 is non-refrigerated and more affordable, costing less than RM 6 per litre. Pasteurized milk, however, is usually pricier, especially when bought from grocery stores in malls. For fresh fruits, vegetables, and meat products, hypermarkets like Lotus’s, Econsave, NSK Trade City, or Mydin offer cheaper local options. High-end grocery stores carry more international varieties, but their prices are definitely expensive.

You guys need to adapt to local brands. Of course everything that is imported from Canada or US is super expensive.

the eggs price different is because of the the grades.. Grade A usually expensive cuz they're big size, B is Medium, C is Small, D is the Smallest.. the lower the grade, the cheaper they are.. We have AA grades too.. Plus First Pride is actually the manufacturer of chicken products for malaysian McDonald's.. you guys should try first pride spicy chicken katsu tastes same just like spicy chicken mcdeluxe.. for local grocery stores experience maybe you guys can try Rosyam Mart after this at Jakel Mall it's not wet but Rosyam Mart is usual choice for us Locals got so many local products also..

Assalamualaikum and welcome to Malaysia.

For garbage bags, I would go for Sekoplas brand. they're local, and priced in the mid tier, but they do have the thick strong ones (you'd even use them to keep things in the attic) and some mid level ones.

As for eggs, typically eggs comes with a membrane that protects the content even if not refrigerated, just like in the wild. but some countries do "wash" these eggs so they will lose the membrane and need refrigeration. If you buy non-refrigerated ones, you can keep them non refrigerated for weeks. but if you decided to wash them, you'll need to keep them cool. They are also sold by their sizes, so Grade A is the large ones, B is smaller, and so on.

Those First Pride Tempura chicken nuggets can often be found around RM18 or below. cheaper if on sale. depends on the store.

Jaya Grocers, Aeon has a more imported stuff, but they are on the pricier side. To save more, I'd suggest to go to hypermarkets like Lotus's and GIant, or smaller hypermarket chain like NSK, Hero or Econsaave. for smaller amount, 99 Speedmart has lots to offer. for wet products, of course the wet markets offer the best price and pretty fresh too (most of the times).

as you mentioned, imported stuff tend to be more expensive especially if they are from colder climate countries.

and... cents are just "sen", pronounced the same.

Hope this helps :)

Only in America and Canada they store the eggs in fridge. In the UK its not in the fridge too and most other countries do this too.
