千葉で深刻な爪痕…長引く被害　台風26号接近へ備え急ピッチで復旧　二次被害リスクも【もっと知りたい！】【グッド！モーニング】(2026年9月26日)

No time to rest after Typhoon No. 25, Typhoon No. 26 is expected to approach the Japanese archipelago. Chiba Prefecture, which suffered severe damage, is rushing to prepare, but rain is expected on the 26th due to the influence of the autumn rain front, so vigilance is necessary. ■Severe Scars; Power Outages Continue The Kominato Railway, the only railway line connecting to the popular tourist destination of Yoro Valley, has had its tracks suspended due to a landslide… It is impossible for trains to run. The devastating damage is not limited to transportation infrastructure. Yoro Valley Tourism Association Chairman, Yasuo Akiba "There's no electricity, so we're operating manually." "It's a power outage." The inn is pitch black due to the continuing power outage. "If all the stocked food spoils due to the power outage, it will result in a food loss of 600,000 to 700,000 yen." ■Inba Marsh Levee Collapse; Restoration Pace Rapidly The area around Lake Inba is still suffering from widespread flooding. The photo shows the area around the nearby Nagato River under normal conditions. The levee breach occurred around here. Three days ago, the area was so flooded that the rice paddies were completely obscured. On the 25th, the water level had receded, and the rice paddies were visible, but a large amount of water still remained. Amidst this situation, repair work on the levee began on the 25th. A Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism official stated: "With Typhoon No. 26 approaching, we aim to complete the work by 24 hours a day before the typhoon arrives." Typhoon No. 26, which formed on the 23rd, is expected to move south of Japan next week, potentially stimulating the autumn rain front currently stalled near Honshu. Therefore, vigilance regarding future rainfall is necessary. To expedite the recovery efforts, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has formed "Team Inbanuma" with Chiba Prefecture and others. They are increasing the number of pump trucks to 30 to drain the water, aiming for recovery within about a week. ■ Fallen utility poles disrupt cell phone service; water supply also cut off Meanwhile, there are areas where the prospect of recovery is uncertain. Ryoji Suzuki (81), a resident of Kisarazu City, is currently facing a problem... "Since the utility pole fell, I've lost cell phone reception. I can't use my landline. My cell phone doesn't work either. I can't contact anyone." He can't let his children, who live far away, know he's safe. However, the utility pole itself is in this state. Kisarazu City official: "It seems there have been landslides in several places like this." Ichihara City is still experiencing water outages. The reason the problem can't be resolved is that water pipes are damaged and roads have collapsed, preventing staff from reaching the water treatment plant. "(Q. And Typhoon No. 26...) It's terrible, isn't it? If the roads become impassable (due to the rain), people get isolated." ■ Risk of secondary damage Further rain also carries the risk of secondary damage. Daisuke Mishima, General Manager of JR East's Chiba Business Headquarters: "This is likely the largest-scale disaster since JR was established." The JR Uchibo Line is expected to take at least three months to restore from Anegasaki Station to Kisarazu Station. "There is still a lot of unstable soil that contains a lot of moisture. There is a risk that this will collapse further with more rainfall. In dangerous situations, we may stop work and resume it once it becomes safe."
