  I am not sure why I cracked under the pressure and burst out laughing a few times here. I had to turn the fan off and it was really hot and I think I was getting a bit delirious talking about Robots and Rodney's dad wanting to be a musician. It won't happen again. Please consider the fact that I fit every Star Wars prequel in this video as a suitable token of my deepest apologies for this major goof.

  I find this movie is symbolic of the Y2K era of aesthetic design coming to an end. The shiny, futuristic sheen of Bigweld Industries is played as an illusion instead of an aspiration. The new millennium had settled in for most people, and marketing promising a more synthetic future wasn’t going to be enough anymore. Robots unintentionally gave way for the rise of frutiger aero, and I thank it for that.

  There's a deleted scene where one of that bots posits that the "sweepers" are rounding up outmodes and he's dismissed as a crazy conspiracy theorist, because they're just literal sweet sweepers that keep the roads clean. It makes a lot more sense, I think, that the true purpose is a secret than the actual movie which just seems to imply people accept that there are murder droids killing poor people in broad daylight.

  This movie played at my local theater for like a year straight, I have so many memories of going to see literally anything that came out that year and being SHOCKED that it still had at least one daily screening.

  The bit where the parents look at the baby and are like “he has your father’s eyes… so glad we saved those!” or whatever the hell it was got stuck in my brain for LIFE. I think of it any time someone mentions a baby looking like their parents.<br><br>It actually led me down a lore existential crisis because I was like “why do they have grandpa’s eyes? Did he replace them and these are the old ones? Or did he die and they literally kept pieces of him to be reused in a future child?”<br><br>Truly the most Don’t Think About It movie of all time

  That song “Shine” that plays during the dishwashing scene at the beginning of the movie has stayed rent-free in my head for the past 20 years. I’m not joking, that song slaps way too hard
