  Frankie and MIke have shown themselves to be great parents for both Axl and Sue on occasion, they are bad parents though when it comes to Brick being deliberately neglectful of him at times.

  Grandma always cooked the best food, mine made awesome pickled beats, cabbage rolls, she always had a huge plot in her garden where she planted green beans for me, really miss my grandma .

  I gotta say this, I know a majority of fans call Frankie a bad mom (and/or just a bad character on the show in general) and while I will agree that she lacked in most of her parenting during her kids’ upbringing but she just comes off as a mom that’s burned out — burned out from the responsibilities of not only trying to keep their house from falling apart (anymore then it is already), the different jobs she took on throughout the series, and finally, keeping her kids from killing each other.<br><br>So let’s talk about the Heck siblings. They may have some points in Frankie’s parenting, but it seriously not like they make her job (as well and Mike’s) any easier. Sue is constantly gullible and very sensitive, Axl is a snarky mischievous layabout and Brick is a quirky younger sibling who’s addicted to reading but constantly forgets a bunch.<br><br>Also, most of these moments here are ones where I side with Frankie and Mike. The Sit Down, the episode where Frankie talked about “The orange”, moments are these are where i sympathized with Mike and Frankie. The Sit Down is where I blame the kids and the Christmas one is where I kinda of blame Frankie’s mom.<br><br>Don’t get me wrong, I still love this show for its relatability, humor, charm, and messages but I won’t lie that sometimes the kids can be a bit much. The actors that played them did a great job and the characters have matured a great amount compared to the very first episode. But I won’t lie that I feel bad for the parents in moments like these.<br><br>⁠​⁠​I won’t lie, the kids can be a bit much to take in. Take the clip from “Dollar Days”, they just see their mom as lazy, angry and tired. True, Frankie told them to be honest with her but Sue at the very least could’ve been more sensitive with her explanation about her mom’s character. Also, Brick, tired and lazy aren’t the same thing. Tired is when you’re in need of rest from working. Lazy is the unwillingness to work. While true, Frankie can be unwilling to do things at times, but she’s more tired and burned out than lazy at times. <br><br>And it’s not like the kids do anything to make her job easier. Axl is a lazy snark, Brick is a forgetful reading-addict, and Sue is a gullible, sensitive underachiever. It’s also hard for me to be on their side at times when they constantly say Frankie is a nag when she tells them repeatedly to do something and they either forget to do it or not do it because lazy. In fact, in one episode “Office Hours”, when Frankie blames the family for her lack in memory, Brick basically said “There’s an elephant in the room, and its name is menopause”. I’m not an expert but I think that’s a bad way to talk to your mother and the tone he said it in honesty irritates me. <br><br>And Sue, your mom has been sensitive with you on a lot of things, would it kill you to be sensitive with her instead of joining your snarky brothers? Seriously, for her to just join in on her brothers in criticizing her mom, who in multiple episodes has tried to comfort and support her, is just sad. Even if the kids are right in some departments about Frankie and Mike’s parenting style, the kids should still understand basic common sense.<br><br>And the fact that they call their mom “a nag” when she constantly asks/tells them to do something and they don’t do it. This is just rinse and repeat until Frankie finally screams and yells and the kids just conclude “Oh, she’s a nag.”<br><br>This scene has to be one of their lowest points for me. I guess you can say, the kids are . . . what’s the word? . . “Inconsiderate”! Good answer👏👏<br><br>I understand that it’s a tv show but with how grounded and relatable it is, I just feel bad for Frankie and Mike given how they just look more like burned out parents who try their best. They’re not perfect parents and are flawed in several departments but they at least try.

  It bugs me that when they both forgot about Sue&apos;s birthday, it was suddenly Frankie&apos;s fault. &nbsp;Mike took no responsibility. &nbsp;She has two parents. &nbsp;They didn&apos;t deserve Sue!
