  Does anyone else just like to stay up late for no reason? Like there&apos;s work and reading I could be doing to be productive but sometimes I get stuck just doing nothing but I stay up until 3/4am. I think I just really enjoy my time alone. There&apos;s this comfort in knowing that nobody else around you is up and about, it&apos;s peaceful, silent, and calm

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtWaBEn_x8c&amp;t=8418">2:20:18</a> brings tears to my eyes as I recall my father&apos;s recent death, remembering when we were younger. The passage of time slowly steals our strength without us even noticing, until one passes away.<br><br>From part of my essay I am currently writing:<br>All throughout our lives, our parents took on different forms. They appeared to us one way when we were babies, perhaps as guardian deities; another when we were children exploring the world, as nurturing and protective authority figures; another when we entered adulthood, as complex beings reflecting our own newfound complexity; and another as they declined in strength as we attained it, now as vulnerable human beings, frail yet strong. The eyes of the child rarely see clearly, refusing to remove its rose tinted glasses. And they appear in yet another form at the moment of their physical death as the manifested effect that they had on the world and in the very will of those who loved them. Now clear vision is attained by the child, the tinted glasses torn from its face, shattering to pieces the illusions that reflected upon its lenses. Perhaps that is a final gift, a necessary gift, from the parent to the child. This form, in its invisibility of substance, but visible in effects, represents the transition from the physical to the metaphysical. In this event, there is the effacement of the particularity of contingent Being and the manifestation of the essence of universal Being. The child who learns to see this may now transition also from the particular to the universal, always a lonely path, but if successful, can once again see with clear vision the reality of the one they called father and mother. <br><br>Thoughts on this would be appreciated if anyone can relate.

  &quot;Couldn&apos;t remember the last time I saw a sunset&quot; was the last thought I needed before I decided to get out of the city. Funny how when I got here I had forgotten all about it. The warm evening air in unison with the swamp crickets made for a wonderful sudden sensation to not rush this moment. As if coordinated, all sound ceased when the final glimmers of the blushing twilight light from my back laid upon my map as if a mystic guiding indication of my path. Sweeping easterly wind came from over the next embankment and almost caught me and my grip of the map completely. I gaze into the distances and see, see the memories of my childhood. The days when I would run through my grandparents field dreaming of getting away to the big city. I smile in this irony.
