The best thing I’ve found at a garage sale - just a few weeks ago was a 14k gold bracelet. It cost me about $3.00. I bought it along with a lot of her costume jewelry. I took it to the jeweler a few days later and they gave me $1200.00. I went back to the house I bought it from and gave her a decent cut of my profits. She was surprised and happy(she had no idea because a lot of this jewelry was passed down to her from her aunts). This was not a high end neighborhood.

Best garage sale find was 15 minutes before they closed up. Found a box with about 1,500 Mountain Dew key chains.
Bought the box for $5 and sold them all for $2-3 each on eBay.

My favorite score was a drive by "estate Sale". The gentleman was having his own estate sale out in a semi-rural area. His elderly mom used to have her own little shop in a bargain barn flea market stall. This place was a total score. Just stuff piled on top of each other. 3 Barns full of intentions of selling and never did. I scored sooo
much: vintage Christmas ornaments, old cast iron figurines, old Betty Crocker cookbooks, etc. I mean, you had to DIG in the piles of totes and smelly boxes of stuff. I was there for HOURS. The thrill of the hunt was in high gear.

I'm a senior (70+) who has been picking for 40+ years. Way before google lens so you had to trust your gut. Neighborhood sales - opportunity to get rid of junk. Because ads are free often people decide not to set up. I rely on internet sites for my list but still check the newspaper. I always read the ads carefully & look at pictures. I still work full time but sold $50,000 on ebay in 2025. Best 2025 item - peacock aluminum christmas tree - $15 / $1200. I watch young utubers to expand my horizons - that was how I found out about Cutco knives.

Its tough to pick one "best item" I've found at a garage sale, but I'd say a piece of Pioneer audio equipment from a very disorganized sale. After talking to the two brother's hosting it, I realized they were buying storage units and reselling at their home and at flee markets. After that first buy (because I was willing to buy so much from them), they invited me back and would allow me into their house and garage to pick through their inventory before anyone else and always gave me great deals. The relationship lasted for about a year and we all made a good amount of money from it.

The best thing I’ve ever found at a garage sale is the knowledge that I’ll never pay retail or sales tax again.

Watch you a lot, have flipwise, and have to say, this video was spot on. It was also entertaining with the "like a video game" scenario. It is so true. Thank you for everything!
