I tried it to surprise my girlfriend, didn't have a thermostat, I burnt it all it was a disaster. My gf still loves me tho. She even cleaned up the mess.

Alternately, to get really thinly sliced cabbage. You can use a vegetable peeler. Faster than a knife and less danger to the "fingies"
