  I live in Tennessee and this mega project will be a super tax strain on most retirees and lower income families. We did not have a vote on this issue but we will have to pay higher taxes on this just to pass it on to our grandchildren.

  I use to love Nashville. I hate it here now. Local voice’s didn’t matter or count. Roads were crowded 30 years ago, just imagine the drive into town during rush hour now. Lord I want to move. And don’t get me started on the “affordable housing “

  Something to point out about Nashville and bond issues. It&apos;s one of the very few places in the country--maybe the only one its size--where pretty much everything public and not part of state government is financed and run by the city. In other places you might have a transit agency, public housing authority, port authority, library, school district, or park system, each with its own powers of taxation. That&apos;s not the case in Nashville. That&apos;s why its debt per capita can appear outrageously high. Oh, that bit about Oracle being built on the site of an old scrapyard? The scrapyard was south of KVB; the land south of the Siegenthaler (previously Shelby Street) bridge was Nashville Bridge Company, which built barges, and the scrapyard continued south of there.

  As a Nashville native it&apos;s mind blowing 🤯 It is what it is and still becoming. I&apos;ll withhold my many judgements till it&apos;s only a memory.

  Oracle better build their building up high, I’ve seen that whole area under 8’ of water, and the Cumberland floods &nbsp;from time to time.

  The east bank idea... Affordable housing when rent is around $2000 for a single bedroom and state minimum wage is still $7.25.... who decides what&apos;s affordable?<br><br>As for the 1/2 sales tax increase, Tennessee has one of the highest sales taxes in the US, some localities can hit up to 10.5%, and what they&apos;ve done is remove car lanes, adding bike lanes and parking, while the interstate system is built for 1990 levels of traffic.

  The ground that Oracle is building on is so toxic from years of industrial use that they’ll have to dig up around 30 feet deep and refill before they can even begin to build. I wouldn’t want to work there on a daily basis….
