  I was pushed into a head of security at a major corporation and was never given any promises raises. I finally submitted a three week notice and they basically ignored me. On my last day I gathered my office things and they asked what I was doing. The shock on their faces as they realized no one had any passwords or knew anything about my many duties was priceless.

  Spent nearly 18 years of my 32 year career doing IT security operations. Always undervalued and understaffed until something catastrophic, preventable, and ignored as &quot;not important enough&quot; happens.

  When upper management &apos;knows everything&apos; and won&apos;t listen to the people actually doing the work, only chaos can survive.<br>So many times the warnings of the workers are ignored as trivial, until they aren&apos;t.<br>Great story, &nbsp;thanks for sharing.

  People calling Arya “vindictive” clearly missed the point. She didn’t sabotage anything — she simply stopped saving people who ignored her for years. That’s not revenge, that’s boundaries. And the fact that the company collapsed the second she left only proves how fragile their so-called “system” really was.

  Corporate NEVER EVER hire managers and upper management from tech/service. &nbsp;They run a business without ever knowing how everything works or runs. &nbsp; So this scenario happens and gets buried more often than what any of them would admit to. &nbsp;Such is life.

  My bottom drawer had my personal notes. I sent emails asking HQ to update the manual while giving them the info to add. Nothing happened. The Quality control person made their annual rounds &amp; silenced me after she told me all training should use the manual &amp; that manuals were always updated. She told me in a condescending manner that she had heard all the excuses etc. that anyone could ever come up with when she cut in &amp; stopped me trying to say in front of a silent HQ person that the manual was not up to date. Our training was done by training notes I prepared. Our manual lacked codes and procedures that were vital to our work. They did not value the person holding things together.

  My husband was a engineer for a township that bordered a large city, during a board meeting a member of the board &nbsp;had said they had &nbsp;seen my husband at city hall and acused my husband of working for city in the engineering dept, the members were going to vote to fire my husband, then my husband stood up and said, actually the man who is at the citys engineering dept was his twin brother! Both were engineers and graduates of the same college in the same year. The board member felt two inchs tall, and never again said a word the whole time they were on the board.

  Something like this happened to my daughter. She worked at a research center running programs and managing grants. What began as a few projects escalated to her running several because the organization never replaced those leaving. She asked for increased compensation commensurate with the increased workload and responsibilities, but she was given the round around for 2 years. Eventually she got tired and found a new job and gave them notice. That is when they realized no one could run the programs without her. They offered her an increased salary to stay. She told them if that offer would have been done a year earlier she would have stayed. She left and they had had to hire her as a consultant for the next 18 months <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZzgu7vUtSU&amp;t=982">16:22</a>

  I don’t know corporate stuff but this makes so much sense. Years ago I took over a filing system. This is in early days of computers. Everyone in that office accessed those files. The prior file clerks were abominable! I had to start all over again. I asked for one rule: they could extract papers as needed but let me refile. We ended up with a clean system. I spent months going through years of messy records. I see some principles apply here. Everyone needs to know the alphabet! 😅
