The bible is not a book about good people it's a book about a good God, not a book about great men but about a great God and His dealings with a flawed and broken humanity, speaking and dealing with them from where they were and not from where He was, speaking to them in a "language" that they /we can relate to and understand

When we break the rules don't our earthly fathers punish us? How much more our Heavenly Father, the Creator of all things, the Sovereign, all Knowing and all Seeing one. Most act like God is sitting in heaven waiting to beat us with a big stick, He is not! He is Holy and Righteous and no sin can stand in His presence. I thank God for Jesus! The issue is we dont understand Holiness. All sin must be judged, period.
