Do you think that the EXTREME amounts of memory was warranted in these games?

I’ve read online that Metal Slader Glory on the Famicom in Japan has 8 megs. It bankrupted HAL and forced Nintendo to bail them out, basically turning them into a de facto second party company.

Normally, I don't comment, but hitting 15 years of Game Sack is insane. I still watch every new episode too. It's become a rock in my life, especially when the world sucks more and more. I even remember when me and my bestfriend Draco found the channel all those years ago. Sadly, he's been gone for the last 10 years, but I know he would still be watching too. We talked about most episodes together. I just wanted to say thank you Joe (thank you too Dave, even if you wont see this) for still doing this 15 years later. It's also insane to me, that I remember running across the music you made also ~20 years ago and then only later realised it was the same person. Side tangent, also insane OCR is still around 20+ years later too. Either way, thank you.

The Genesis version of SSF2 was bigger because of the voice samples and reliance on FM synthesis. Devs often had to include larger PCM samples directly in the ROM instead of being able to use compressed samples on the SNES. In addition, the Genesis version also included extra announcer voice clips such as the announcer saying character names after matches instead of playing 'You win' or 'You lose' on the SNES version.

Nice to see Uncharted: Golden Abyss. I was the Particle FX and Set Piece animator for that game. Good times.

Metal Slader Glory on Famicom is known to be the largest one on the system. It's 8 Mb (or 1 megabyte). It was also the most expensive game ever released for it for that same reason.

There is another 525-megabyte game for the Nintendo DS: *Ni no Kuni*, which is also exclusive to Japan, and of course, it’s an interactive RPG featuring animations by Studio Ghibli.

SSFII on Genesis has extra ending slides for many characters that are missing from the SNES version, so that's probably where some of the extra 8Mbit went on that version.
