A critical thing that hardly anyone talks about in living in a van, schoolie, or any RV full-time is when it is broke down an it needs major repairing. If it's in a shop for a while, you're essentially homeless. I feel this is a HUGE issue that needs to be talked about an addressed way more than it is. So what then? For me, I tend to van life for the reason of no rent or mortgage, so I don't travel all that much, an when I do, it's not so far from a friend I can couch-surf, but it IS a major factor in determining if you can actually live the life.

I've seen a lot of videos like this and no one has talked about the things you did.
Everyone just says:"Inform yourself and invest in good solar pannels" ect.
And you go with:" go barebone first" and god this needed to be said and I think it will motivate a lot more people since the starting point is so low and it seems very fun to slowly "level up".

Getting your heart broken doesn’t sound lame at all. It sounds honest and vulnerable. Much respect. Appreciate you sharing your journey with us. So excited for when I can begin my vanlife journey. Who knows, maybe we’ll bump into each other someday out on the road.

Your videos came at a perfect time in my life. Similar circumstances happened to me. Loss of career and relationship. I have no drive or ambition. I am now starting a build and seeking adventure.

After being lost for many years and eventually finding my faith in Christ. I have found myself wanting to drastically change myself and the world around me, Vanlife has been heavily contemplated these past few months. Even though this video is 2 years old, I truly feel it was needed to make a final decision and commit to it. So I do plan on using all your advice, and I pray it's right for me. Thank you Trent for the advice

I became homeless after I left my violent husband i lived in my car for 2 years realising it’s better to live in a vehicle than be injured & dead & now I have my van which is my happy place I love my van life & I’ve started my own YouTube channel recently documenting my van life while recovering from domestic violence & educating others about safety plan’s & safety strategies etc however at the end of the day I’m just grateful to be alive

This is the best advice I've heard so far. You don't simply tell people "just go do it,;" you actually give someone a couple of steps to START doing it. No one ever helps with "the how" on starting and figuring it out. Thank you for this!
