The original mosque, established during the Ming Dynasty (around 1465–1597), originally featured traditional Chinese architecture before being completely destroyed by Japanese bombings during World War II. It was rebuilt in the late 20th century (between 1982 and 1992) with distinct green Arabic domes and crescent moon symbols. Later, due to new city planning, the mosque was relocated to its present location and rebuilt once again in a modern traditional Chinese style.
