As a life long history geek who served in our military and who majored in history, you are my favorite history lecturer, with The Fat Electrician and Dan Carlin as close seconds. History needs to be a story well told and you do that without peer. Thank you.

My uncle was there. B Co. Marines. All the way up to the area around Hagaru Ri and Yudam Ni. Died of cancer in 1988. RIP. I’ve read 3 books on this battle. On my 4th. “Colder Than Hell” by Joseph Owen is an excellent read. My uncle’s reserve unit trained either under him or with him. I can only imagine what he lived with in his memories.

My dad was in the seventh Marines at the chosin I have newspaper articles from the Boston Herald deed, December 29, 1950 from when him in four other Marines were in the Chelsea Naval Hospital in Boston out of 238 Marines in his company only 13 survived they all told of piling up bodies 3 feet high and how they would scream and yell and blow trumpets before they would attack wave after to wave and what nobody talks about all four of them agreed that sometimes it took an extra 8 to 10 rounds to bring a man down because all of them were doped up on opium and they felt like giving up altogether. My dad had a grenade, sharp metal wounds to his face hands and in lost most of his toes to frostbite like most men were affected both Chinese in Americans. I always wondered when I was a kid why he would be outside in the middle of the winter in New Hampshire with his T-shirt now I know why thank you for the documentary shows the fortitude the bravery of the men who they call the chosin few Bill in NH

Unless you have a class like this and give it context people will not know of or remember the Korean War. My dad was there. His biggest issues had to do with the fact nobody remembers the service these men gave. They received no fanfare, no parades, etc. In fact, people barely remembered it. That pisses me off because history marks it as a footnote and little more. They go straight from WWII to Vietnam and completely bypass this. In fact, many don't even know what the Berlin Airlift was and that was in the same time period, but a year or two before this war broke out.
