His voice still sounded incredible at that age, sadly we lost him a few years later. Gary Brooker was a talent.

I love it when one of the original artists, as a much, much older version of himself, takes one of the old classic rock & roll songs I grew up with in the 1960's and 70's and rearranges it for a full classical orchestra and live choir! So beautiful. There have been several who have done this (like Moody Blues, the Scorpions, Yes, original prog Genesis, Marmalade, to name a few), and I wish many more would make the leap!

This song is almost sixty years old. Originally released in 1967, I first heard it in 1970. One of my favorites from back then.

Did you notice that little nod that Gary did just about at the end of Whiter Shade of Pale? He was saying, "This is really good!" Also, this concert was one and a half hours long; "White Shade of Pale" was around the one-hour mark. The last piece sung was another Procol Harum classic, "Conquistador," far more upbeat and faster-paced. I would highly recommend you also review this piece.
