  I 1983 I bought and restored a White M4a1 mortar carrier from Southern Parts in Memphis, Tenn. Their yard was full of half tracks to choose from. Mr. Hunt Ran the place and advised me to get the M4a1 instead of one of the M3’s. Best decision I ever made. They did a short block rebuild and shipped it to me in Dallas. I completely restored it from top to bottom, including a dewat mortar and <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U73nsK0-eTM&amp;t=893">14:53</a> kept it for 20 years before selling it to a collector in Houston. it ran perfectly. Highlight of my life!

  Been to this museum twice now. &nbsp;My dad came and said it was the most impressive museum he&apos;s ever been too in his 65 years of life. &nbsp;Definitely worth the trip!

  My friend and neighbor served in the 50th Armored Infantry, 6th Armored Division in WW2. Drove around in a half track as a mortarman. RIP Jim.

  My Dad was a Staff Sargent in WW2. When his men needed to move to more forward positions, which happened often, he would do anything he could to secure a half track. If he was forced to use a wheeled truck the troops often spent much of the trip pushing the vehicle. The half tracks were virtually unstoppable. Thus giving his men some much needed rest to help them in the inevitable upcoming fight.

  A local scrap yard had one of these with an &quot;A&quot; frame boom on back. &nbsp;They had it up until the 1990&apos;s. &nbsp;After they parked it and stopped using it, I began pestering them to sell it to me. &nbsp;They eventually cut it up for scrap. &nbsp;They never sold it because they had an idea of &quot;Fixing it up&quot;. &nbsp;&lt;SAD&gt;

  My uncle was assigned to a half track as a 50 cal. machine gunner. They ran out of fuel, and then it was hand to hand combat. &nbsp;I need to look further into his history. <br>My Dad was in C-47s as a crew chief,&amp; he felt bad because the weather made it impossible to support his brother. <br>Another brother fought the &nbsp;Japanese,wounded. All three made it home. <br>I really appreciate this video. Thank you.

  Thank you for describing in the first minute, what the purpose of the anti ditching roller was. I&apos;ve always wondered what it was but couldn&apos;t find the answer. Great collection!
