  The storyteller fails to realize she was in a position of power/authority, so although YES they’re both adults, in the eyes of the law, the inmate couldn’t consent.

  Former co here! So during training they tell us that if we have an inappropriate relationship with an inmate (state property) you will be label as a sex offender bc you’re in a position of authority over that inmate. Although it was consensual, the courts will look at it like she took advantage of that inmate instead of protecting them while in prison. So this is not a surprise for her, she just got caught. Surprise she didn’t do federal time.

  She is in fact a sex offender.  She choose to sleep with that inmate. Its in ALL handbooks to not sleep with inmates. Why because 1. The immate cannot  consent to having an equally yoked exprience.2. Because guess what now the inmate can now sue to prison for sexual abuse and we the tax payers are now responsible for her crime. This is not a moral issue this is the fing law. People need to understand All decisions have consequences.

  Why have a child knowing she's legally a sex offender. How is she going to take her son to school? No birthday parties or trips to the park either. She lacks discernment and continues to make reckless decisions , now it'll impact her child's life

  She's going to use a portion of the money as a down payment on a house. But..how the heck is she going to pay the mortgage if she's unemployed and damn near unemployable?

  I'm sorry but as a former correctional officer you know that inmates cannot consent to sex. You know that its against the law and you know every other consequences.  I don't feel bad for her. There are policies and laws that you sign off on.  You can treat them like humans without stepping outside the boundaries of your job.  Her self esteem is through the floor there is nothing about an inmate that's attractive.  Nothing she's saying is making sense you liked what you were hearing so you got caught up and caught with your pants down.

  The issue is not that it was another adult. The issue is that an inmate who is involuntarily being held cannot consent to sex with staff members in most states, i.e. why she was criminally charged and was labelled as an SO. She stated that she worked at the jail.
