  I saw Bob in DC during my first pride, the day after Pulse Happened in 2016. &quot;Do not let something scare you because if you don&apos;t go out, they fucking won,&quot; stayed engraved in my 16-year-old brain. I often think about that phrase, but I didn&apos;t realize how long ago it was or how much it impacted me. Suddenly, it became easier to be and like myself, and I will forever be grateful to Bob for that.

  as a visibly trans, queer man, hearing that you don&apos;t have to be going to protests to be an activist, sometimes just existing proudly is enough, was really good to hear.<br><br> especially with the current political climate, being queer can be really scary, but we are all doing what we can to survive and thrive and be happy.
