one of the best day with my father. During that day, my dad took me to a pizzeria, and after the pizzeria we watched the match on TV at home. I was 12 years old then, and we spent that day just the two of us. The best day of my life. Rest in peace, dad

Beating Germany (title holders at the time) and still getting knocked out the Euro 2000 in the group stage. Classic England!

I can't believe how baggy the kits used to be back then. They're massive.

Beckhams classic cross, Shearer doing what he does best....and against Oliver Kahn...better known as TIGER-FACE....

Nice to see in the end of the game. Two football legends swap tshirts, Alan Shearer and Lothar Matthäus.

This was the game that changed German football for the next 20 years to come. It sparked a full revamp of the youth system, the academies, the style of play, the tactics etc it was after this game did they produce the players that went onto win the WC in 2014

Lothar Matthaus almost 40 and still in the German team. Complete madness. It was obvious in 1998 that they needed to play younger players. That's why they got 1 point.

Dark, dark times for us germans back then. But at least it was eye opening for the DFB and a great youth system arose about 10-12 years later

I remember being very underwhelmed by this victory. A competent yet average England team against a very poor Germany team.

People forget we’ve had our luck in tournaments two one worst Germany teams back then but we held on barely like 96 always remembered for the gazza miss but let’s be honest they scored a perfectly good goal in extra time we do have zero luck in major tournaments usually but we also get big sliced two at times
