As someone who was sucked into the WTCC history by the YT algorithm for the last 14 days, this one could not have come at a better time.

The problem with Sebastien Loeb winning in WTCC was Pechito Lopez, he just bested Sebastien everytime

We argentines remember fondly of that car and those 3 years of WTCC...

"Pechito" Lopez, which had been previously negotiating with USGP for an F1 seat (we all know how that ended up) was on a bad luck streak until he hit the jackpot by Citroen at the time, on a discipline too familiar to him; we had Super TC2000 here, which at the time shared quite a lot of layout and body characteristics with those cars (around the same time, this category had Radical V8 engines delivering over 400HP, all to the front wheels, insane stuff)

The success was so remarkable, that PSA Argentina ended up bringing the C-Elisée here, along with its Peugeot sibling, the 301.

Don't know if I'm right or not but i slightly remember from that time the commentators saying that they had so much testing time that they even punted each others cars to see how it would react to damage and see how easily it was to fix. Crazy

A very good sum up of Citroen's WTCC racing program, I have just acquired a 1/43 scale model and will detail the cockpit the video will help with it.

I find it amazing that unlike Mercedes in the late 90s who barrowed another competitor's car and effectively sped up development or Maserati in the mid-2000s which literally had help from Ferrari's F1 team, Citroen Racing basically looked at the rules and just took one of their cars from another series, modified it and went on from there. It was definately an unusual but clever way to do it, kinda surprised they didn't lean on fellow PSA Sister brand Peugeot (who by that point had plenty of asphalt experience in Touring car) for that help the way Maserati did for their GT1 project.

Wow that was such an interesting insight on the process of this car, and let me tell you, this car brought much much joy here in Argentina. And specifically in my case being a López fan since he returned back home (circa 2007) I was delighted with this car and very proud that José María could finally demonstrate that he had, and still has, so much talent. After Fangio, he might just be the second greatest argentinian driver of all time imo
