  Delon's character is like a human puppy in this film 😭 he started out with a heart so pure only to be confronted with the ugliest sides of the world so fast and so soon.. I wish he had taken more roles like Rocco, of softer, kind-hearted, but complex and tragic individuals. I remember reading an interview where he was saying that he basically played a saint in Rocco and His Brothers, adding that this character is very different from who he is as a person. I think that may be part of the reason why he shines so beautifully playing him.

  Sadly, Alain Delon just died at the age of 88. What an exquisitely handsome man and great actor.

  Alain Delon was extremely good at playing villains and evil characters, but Rocco Parondi might be his best character (or at least my favourite) precisely because he&apos;s such an adorable boy. Since the very beginning of the film you can see he&apos;s so sweet and pure at heart that he&apos;s completely unaware of the evil that&apos;s lurking around in the world. He&apos;s just too innocent to notice those things, he lives in a perpetual state of confusion and disbelief, because whenever he encounters anything that deviates from his pure, simple and peaceful view of the world he is simply too stunned to understand or recognise it for what it is. As the story progresses, he slowly loses some of his innocence little by little, not becoming evil himself, but realizing that evil was present in his own family all along. And he doesn&apos;t know how to deal with it. He&apos;s petrified and horrified by those realisations. The fact that he&apos;s a boxer is even ironic, because he&apos;s totally incapable of any violence and only boxes because everyone else wants him to and he happens to be good at it. And of course, Alain Delon&apos;s angelic face only contributes to Rocco&apos;s sweetness as he tries to survive the horrors of the world. A wonderful actor, a wonderful character and a wonderful film.

  Alain is incredible in this film, the most beautiful actor I&apos;ve ever seen. Funnily enough, the Irish for beautiful is álainn. Suits him perfectly.

  I completely changed how I saw method acting when I first witnessed Alain&apos;s performance as Rocco Parondi. He heightened my standards.
