As a kid I thought adulthood would be like MyScene, getting coffee and going shopping with your baddie friends in NYC or Paris, ohhh how sad young me would be

Growing up I always pictured the Myscene girls in their early to mid twenties because they were living full adults lives: partying, going on trips and dating. As a kid I was “there’s no way that my parents would allow me to go on a solo trip with my friends to Jamaica at 16” lol

Bratz and MyScene never gave me insecurities as a girl growing up, other adults and teens did. I loved that there were dolls that were diverse and focus on hobbies. Bratz was great for showing young girls focused on friendship and their passions. I feel like the parents were way too mad at the dolls, and not other things that actually affects children.

god they were so iconic. in my head i can’t help but see the girls as like, at least 18 because how else do they have all this free time to go on international vacations and go to clubs 😭

My biggest childhood flex is that I won 2nd place in a MyScene contest. One day a bunch of packages showed up and it was every doll, a limo, a makeup station, and some other stuff that I can’t exactly remember. I felt like the coolest kid in the world.

I didn’t even know My Scene was a specific doll line. I just knew it as part of the games section of the Barbie website

as a kid I remember also being confused by the “Barbie” MyScene doll because I though they were a different company trying to use Barbie’s name to trick people into picking MyScene over regular Barbie

I also, despite owning one of the movies, fully assumed the MyScene characters were meant to be in college. In my head, Bratz were in high school, MyScene were college girls, and Barbie was a generic adult woman. And I would sometimes play them all together as sisters across doll lines with this age range

edited for grammar

Love how you're taking Kennedy brutally replacing Barbie on a personal level. Because same!

No, bc to this day, I still dislike the fact Kennedy replaced Barb and took everything from her belongings LOL.

I mean, it makes sense. MyScene was created because Mattel was shaking in its boots because a new doll line, Bratz, had outsold Barbie for the first time in, well, ever. They actually had to put effort into their dolls to keep up. But as soon as Bratz were discontinued, Mattel could kick back and relax again, and that showed in the way they handled MyScene. Swapping Barbie out with "Kennedy" was the telltale sign that they were done with them, it meant they didn't want Barbie to be associated with it anymore.
