  You can still play force of will in a lurrus deck. Only the cost of permanents are restricted

  Regarding Lurrus, WotC has said that they&apos;re considering banning it again in Vintage. It&apos;s still that good.

  I feel like Cimo didn&apos;t understand the Kaheera situation that well. The thing is, in control decks especially, playing a big 6 mana finisher is a huge cost because it absolutely SUCKS to draw them early when they do literally nothing. Being able to play a deck of only answers and card draw makes control a lot better and essentially removes the possibility of bricking.

  With Lutri, it seemed that Cimo didn&apos;t realize that the Companion doesn&apos;t need to be your Commander in EDH.

  Just a little extra context about the Lurrus ban in Vintage. Normally, Vintage regulates power level through the restricted list instead of a banlist, it&apos;s not the complete wild west. It&apos;s much like how YGO has the Limited list and the Traditional format puts all banned cards on the Limited list, though, in MTG&apos;s case Vintage&apos;s restricted list is different to Legacy&apos;s banlist.<br><br>The Companion Mechanic was explicitly the reason Lurrus had to be banned in Vintage, because the thing that made it oppressive was having that single copy always available. You didn&apos;t play extra copies of Lurrus, that single one did all the work, so restricting you to a single copy of Lurrus didn&apos;t change things at all. This is why it was the first power level ban in over 20 years in Vintage: Because a Restriction wouldn&apos;t do anything.

  CGB, Lurrus could be played alongside Force of Will. It only cared about permanents, so there was <b>no</b> deckbuilding cost. Force of Will, Force of Negation, any instant or sorcery you could ever want.<br><br>Also, the rules do specify a soft upper card limit - you must be able to shuffle it, by yourself. Technically advantage to bigger hands.<br><br>Also, Modern’s Yorion ban didn’t have to do with power level, it was about fetchlands and constant shuffles. Don’t think I agree with it, but that was their more stated reason, not because it was too good.
