I’d never had a pet before. I went to an overcrowded shelter here in China with hundreds upon hundreds of dogs. Choosing felt impossible. Then this tiny, nervous pup kept following me, tail gently wagging. I crouched down and she curled up against my shoes, closed her eyes, completely at peace. One of the staff even snapped a photo. Nine years later, Shad is curled up beside me on the couch. I never knew how powerful it is when a dog chooses you. I love you so much, Shad. ❤

I’ve watched this three times and cried every single time. My dog chose me too. He had been abandoned and mistreated. One day he walked into my yard and stared through my window. We’ve been together for 11 years now. Forever grateful he found me ❤
