My dad bought an E30 M3 in Tucson Arizona in 1987. I was born in 1993, and brought home from the hospital in the same car. I learned how to drive manual in it at the age of 11. My first autocross at 15 was in the same car, on the same clutch no less.

The car now sits in my garage after my dad passed it down to me. It will never be sold, always cherished for the amazing vehicle it is. My hope is my (future) children will have a chance to experience this car some day.

To call this just a YouTube video is an insult. This is a poetic masterpiece. You deserve massive credit for your storytelling ability and wordplay.

4:55 Part of why the German kill totals were so high is because they counted “probables”, when they thought they killed the other guy, but never saw a crash or bailout. They also never rotated pilots, so the same guys fought at the front till they were killed or seriously wounded

Man, the big-money channels on YT don't come close to the level of production, narration, substance & overall quality you do. PLEASE make a counterpart to this video of the 190e 16v, it would round off this era of motorsport so perfectly. As always, bravo Sir, keep up the amazing work.

My dad raced e30 m3s when they first came out (late 80s, I think 89 was when he was first introduced). Went through about 2-3 of them, and currently had one when his friend blew the motor in his. The car was absolutely gorgeous, a true street example. My dad had the engine swapped with the sport evo motor, and every single sport evo part was installed. It IS a true sport evo, just not badged so (this is when you could get the parts from Germany directly). Now, with his passing in November, I’m a 19 year old with not one but two e30m3s (he also kept his last personal racecar fitted with a group a close ratio gearbox and massive weight reduction. They are among a few cars in the collection that will never see another owner, besides hopefully my son one day. These cars are more than hunks of metal, they’re emotional beings that need love and care and affection just like the rest of us. I’m beyond grateful that he left me these gorgeous examples of automotive history, but to me it’s more than JUST a car, it’s a time machine to happy memories and moments with my dad. I miss you pops, and I’ll take care of your babies forever.

I’m so glad that you put the story first. No sponsorship garbage, no bullshit transition to something else. Everything serves the story. Mad props to you man. You’re amazing.

This. This is the single greatest documentary on a vehicle ever made. The narration, the content, the subject matter, everything about this is perfect. As someone who makes automotive media for a living, this really is one of the best pieces ive ever seen. This kept me on the edge of my seat the entire length of the video, regardless of the fact that I know this story through and through. Hell, i have an e30 M3 tattooed on me. Yet somehow, I was so amped up, like this was the first time I'd heard this story. Multi-million dollar production companies cant emulate what this channel does, let alone compare. Thank you squidd, for this gem of automotive history.
