Child swallowed 28 magnets? Why go after the company and not the parents for neglect?

PSA: If your accelerator pedal gets stuck and your car won't slow down PUT IT INTO NEUTRAL. This will take the power off the wheels and help the car to slow down. It will also allow the brakes to do their job. And, yes, your automatic can be put into neutral. Just push the lever. Don't pull it toward you (if mounted on the tree), don't push the button (if mounted on the floor).

Parents blaming companies because their kids put the wrong thing in their mouth is crazy work.

The moral of the storie with the Bucky balls is don't eat them! They are harmless as long as they're not ingested. Simply don't give them to young kids.

Some of these are do to stupidity. The magnetic Bucky balls, yeah they are cool, but obviously not for kids, so either don’t leave it where a kid can get it, or teach your kids not to put stuff in their mouths.

If the Bucky Balls are labeled teens and adults what are kids doing fooling around with them?

When I brought toys for my next door neighbor's kids, I always made sure of the age range (and also remembered that the kid I'm giving the gift to had younger siblings)

We used to learn from our parents and grandparents. Now many kids consult Google first and treat Mum and Dad as outdated search engines. The problem is that Google can give you information, but it can't give you 70 years of life experience.

I worked as a technician at Toyota during the recall for the accelerator pedal issue. The fix was removing the pedal, cutting 1/2” or so off of it, and reprogramming the ecu. The new software cut the accelerator if the brakes were being used. They also informed customers to stop using more than one set of floor mats.

That Toyota recall really screwed some people up. One accident that ended in fatality caused a guy to lose custody of his kids, house, and his possessions because he spent time in jail for vehicular manslaughter even though he maintained that he had tried to stop but the car didn’t respond. I believe he sued Toyota because those leaked documents proved they already knew about the issue but failed to do anything about it.

Moral of the story...Monitor your children when they play with potentially dangerous toys and keep things that they might swallow out of their reach. Don't just give them a toy and let them play alone with it. As well as teach them some common sense! A five year old child should KNOW better than to stick their hands into hot objects. Well, unless they were never taught better anyway. But that's on the parents, not the company. Using known toxic elements and chemicals, however, IS on the company.
