Hey, Liam sounds really flat and annoying (well more annoying than usual) in this one.

Have the Fandome replaced his voice with AI?

Nah guys, before the conspiracy theories start, no thats not AI or me trying to put on a voice to sound more deep and powerful, that's what my voice sounds like just after having suffered a particularly nasty bout of flu 🤣

The creator of the Non Mannis simping clones appears to have given up. I sure hope they aren't building an army of them for something special 🐎 🌩 👀

Brandon Snow really did plan to kill the dragons for Torrhen under cover of night with weirwood arrows. If the North downed even one dragon Aegon would have rethought his whole plan pretty quickly as at that point the cost would suddenly not be worth the effort.

That said a North that resists is more likely to accept/issue a challenge via trial by combat to decide who rules them, which I believe Aegon would accept/issue if things looked bad.

The Dornish really were just THEM.
Was probably the smartest move of Torrhen to not have all his guys killed.

Great video! I think you really hit the nail on the head with the cultural difference and the fact that Dorne just plain wanted it more. It seems like the main ethos in the North is "We stick together and do whatever it takes to survive" Whereas the idea in Dorne is "Better to die on your feet than live on your knees."

Torrhen foresaw several mass causalities: (1) death of his assembled army by fire , (2) death of people in castles or wooden towns by fire , (3) death by cold and starvation since the North cannot feed itself year round and its storehouses are flammable. Also although the Dragon lords wanted overlordship there was a reasonable chance that if they’d be seated in the south they might take a hands off approach to the overlordship of distant kingdoms like the North, leaving the Starks unrivaled at home and able to prepare for insurrection if the future circumstances demanded it.

Well assuming Torrhen decided fight Aegons got two major issues, the first issue is Aegon would have had would have been the Crannogmen, they would have been playing merry hell with Aegons supply lines.
Second you have the Greybeards, using them are either rearguards or and kamakazie raiders to slow, damage or destroy the Targs supplys or camps.

I fully agree that the people of the north would probably come to terms with Aegon in this senario, but if Aegon were to do dishonorable, or something that rightly pissed the people of the north off, then similarly to how the boltons and lannisters are facing the consequences of those actions. The north remembers, and as you have mentioned previously, the north is worth sod all in terms of recourses. While Aegon probably could subjugate the north, he may judge that his resources are better spent in the kingdoms that are actually useful to him, plus the Dornish remained a thorn in the side of the Targaryans for generations, while the north, we can assume, would never attack the south without cause. Again, not saying the north would win like how dorne did, but just sharing my thoughts that a bloody conquest of the north could backfire for Aegon. Either way, lovely food for thought, thanks for sharing this with us!

The real question is WHY would the North resist Aegon? All the Dragon-King wanted was nominal allegiance; there was also the example of the Field of Fire, if Harrenhal was not sufficient a lesson.
Good point on a naval invasion of the North being nigh-impossible, as was seen in the Drogo video. Now, if Aegon had canons like the Ottomans at Constantinople…

Dragons visit Winterfell. Once they break it, they leave and ignore the soon to be frozen corpses. Winterfell shelters the majority of the North in the winter, without it there is no North left to fight. If you really want to secure the win, take out White Harbor as well and there isn’t enough food for anyone to survive much less march.

That’s why Torren surrendered. If Harrenhal could be burned, there is no protecting the North from a single mature dragon.

Still a fun thought experiment though.
